New Hampshire Downloadable Audios
Use your library card to download audio books to your computer, transfer them to a portable player (either WMA or MP3 compatible) or burn selected titles onto a CD.

How does it work? Call the library to get your special prefix number to go along with the barcode number on your library card.

Then go to http://nh.lib.overdrive.com/.

The first time you visit the site you must install the free media software and set up an account with your barcode number and your email address (for reserves).

Then you can browse all the books by author, title, subject, format or availability.

Select the books you would like by adding them to your cart. Then check out, and download the books to your computer. You can then transfer the book to a portable player or burn some selected titles to a CD.

The loan period is seven days, and a title may be downloaded three times during that period. Up to three audio books may be checked out at any time and they will check back in automatically at the end of the loan period. They cannot be returned any earlier. Reserves may be placed on any title. You will be notified by email (only) when your requested title becomes available. You have 48 hours to download the book. If you already have 3 titles checked out, you may not check out your reserved title. So be careful how many checkouts and you reserves you have at one time.

The Overdrive website has a list of both compatible and incompatible portable devices. Some devices will accept both formats. It also has an excellent “Help” section to take you step-by-step through the process of setting up an account and downloading books.

This program is intended for use from home. You will not be able to download the books at the library.
